GAS REGULATOR VENTS

'Not a lot of people know this'       

Have you ever seen (in UK at least) these strange green objects by the side of the road and wondered what they are? After numerous enquiries, I found they are gas regulator vents. Smaller versions are gas pressure regulators and tiny pillar types are gas pressure loggers. They are used by the Gas Board (now British Gas) to keep the gas pressure within the statutory limits. I asked for an internal diagram and locations, and was told this information was actually classified! That's why I had to do it. If anyone has more information, please leave a message. Here is probably the only list of locations on the net. (N. London & Surrey) (see below the pics.). I have also just discovered the boxes being attached to many of them contain modems that relay the information back to the gas companies. Some similar boxes contain loggers of pressure and temperature data for all public utilities.

The Queen, being so important, needs two at her farm shop in Windsor.
